NEW YORK – Rapper and business mogul 50 Cent has once again taken aim at longtime rival Sean “Diddy” Combs, this time following reports that the Bad Boy founder was threatened by an inmate at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center.
According to The Daily Mail, Diddy was allegedly attacked late at night when a fellow inmate held a knife to his throat while he was asleep. The incident was described as an act of intimidation rather than an attempted murder.
“He woke up with a knife to his throat. I don’t know whether he fought him off or the guards came, I just know that it happened,” said Charlucci Finney, a close friend of Diddy, in comments to the publication. “If this guy had wanted to harm him, Sean would have been harmed. It would only take a second to cut his throat and kill him.”
Finney added that the encounter may have been intended as a warning, saying, “It was probably a way to say, ‘Next time you ain’t gonna be so lucky.’ Everything is intimidation. But with Sean, it won’t work — Sean is from Harlem.”
50 Cent’s Reaction
50 Cent, known for his relentless trolling of hip-hop figures, quickly responded to the reports on social media. On Wednesday (Oct. 22), he shared a screenshot of a headline about the alleged incident and captioned it:
“Is he snitching now? They put a knife to his neck and said South Side we outside. LOL.”
The post added to a long history of public mockery between the two rap icons, with 50 Cent frequently using Diddy’s legal troubles as fodder for jokes and social media content.
Ongoing Legal Troubles
Diddy is currently serving a 50-month federal sentence after being convicted on two counts of transporting individuals for prostitution. More serious racketeering and sex-trafficking charges were dismissed earlier this year.
His legal team has repeatedly raised concerns over his safety behind bars, citing his celebrity status and the nature of his conviction as reasons he may be targeted by other inmates.
Prison officials have yet to issue a formal statement on the alleged knife incident.
