Zanu-PF Harare province has reported a surge in new members, many of whom are defecting from opposition parties, drawn by the ruling party’s development agenda. The increase was highlighted during the party’s National Cell Day celebrations.

Speaking after attending the exercise in Borrowdale 1, Harare provincial chairperson Goodwills Masimirembwa said the province has seen a remarkable growth in membership.

“We have had an overwhelming response, and attendance was massive across all cells in the country. Here at my cell, we recorded over 100 new members, and all their names have been recorded. This is the situation throughout the province,” he said.

Masimirembwa added that many new members, particularly those joining from opposition ranks, have been attracted by President Mnangagwa’s inclusive development policies.

“President Mnangagwa’s policies, which are inclusive and leave no one behind, have been the major pulling factor for new members. The massive infrastructure development and sound economic policies have resonated well with the masses,” he said.

He pointed to improvements in the agriculture sector as evidence of the country’s progress, noting that Zimbabwe has moved from periods of scarcity to producing surplus wheat, creating new market opportunities.

“Let them join the party in their numbers. There is empowerment in Zanu-PF. President Mnangagwa has launched a number of projects to benefit everyone. This is the time to take advantage of these programmes to change our lives under a caring President,” Masimirembwa added.
