KERRY – A man who died following a serious road traffic collision in Co Kerry on Saturday evening has been identified locally as Mhlanguli Brian Moyo (45), a Zimbabwean national.

The fatal two-vehicle crash occurred on the N22 near Dromadeesirt at approximately 6.40pm. Mr Moyo was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the second vehicle, a man in his 30s, was treated by emergency services at the scene before being taken to University Hospital Kerry for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.

Tributes have since poured in from family, friends and members of the migrant community. In a statement released through Amai Malawi Ireland, Mr Moyo’s family expressed deep sorrow at his passing.

“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our brother-in-law, Mr Mhlanguli Brian Moyo, husband to our sister Fishani Kumwenda, originally from Zimbabwe,” the statement read.

“The Association of Malawians will work closely with the Zimbabwean community in coordinating matters related to this loss. Further details will be communicated in due course. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”

Mr Moyo’s wife, Fishani Kumwenda, also paid an emotional tribute on social media, describing her late husband as a man of exceptional character.

“A great soul serves everyone all the time. A great soul never dies. It brings us together again and again,” she wrote.
