LONDON — Mohamed Salah has thrown his Liverpool future into turmoil after telling SkySports.com that he feels “the club has thrown me under the bus” in a blistering interview following the champions’ dramatic 3–3 draw at Leeds United.
The Egyptian forward, who was left on the bench for a third consecutive match and remained unused throughout the game, suggested that next weekend’s clash against Brighton could be his final appearance for the club.
Salah said he was stunned to have been overlooked again, insisting he had “done so much for this club down the years” and could not understand why he was now being sidelined.
He claimed promises made to him in the summer had been broken and that his relationship with manager Arne Slot had “suddenly disappeared”, adding he believed someone within the club “doesn’t want me here”.
He explained that he had already told his family to attend the Brighton match because he wanted to savour it, acknowledging he might be saying his goodbyes before travelling to the Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt on 15 December. Slot, responding to questions about Salah’s comments, offered a brief assessment, saying only that Liverpool “have to accept the situation we are in”.
Salah described deep frustration at being kept on the bench, saying he felt unfairly blamed for the team’s issues and that no player should have to fight daily for a position they had already earned through years of service. He insisted he loved the club and would always support it, but could not accept the lack of respect he believes he is being shown.
The forward, who has been linked with a January move to the Saudi Pro League, admitted that his future was now unclear. His remarks have intensified speculation and raised doubts over whether Liverpool’s meeting with Brighton will be a farewell moment for one of the most iconic players in the club’s modern history.
