Kanye West has sold his $14 million Bighorn Mountain Ranch in Wyoming back to its original owners after years of neglect and personal turbulence led the once-grand property to fall into disrepair.

The 6,700-acre estate, located near Cody, Wyoming, has officially returned to Greg and Pam Flitner — the same family who sold it to West in 2019. The Flitners, speaking to Cowboy State Daily, said they were saddened by the ranch’s deteriorated condition.

“I think his original intent for the Mountain Ranch might have been to create a place where his family could retreat from the rest of the world,” Pam Flitner said.

West purchased the Bighorn Mountain Ranch soon after acquiring the nearby Monster Lake Ranch, where he had announced ambitious plans to build dome-shaped housing units to help combat homelessness. However, those projects were abandoned amid a period of personal and professional upheaval, including his highly publicised divorce from Kim Kardashian and backlash over antisemitic comments in 2022.

Monster Lake Ranch, also showing signs of neglect, is currently listed for $12 million.

Despite the property’s decline, the Flitners expressed no resentment toward the rapper and producer.

“A lot of people have said he was a genuinely good guy and that he stayed focused much of the time,” Greg Flitner said. “None of us can fault him for buying it and trying to do something meaningful for himself.”

The sale quietly concludes Kanye West’s Wyoming experiment — once envisioned as a hub for creative renewal and social innovation away from the public eye.

As of now, the Monster Lake Ranch remains unsold.
