SOME thieves are just a daring lot.

On Sunday night, some thieves broke into the canteen at Chikurubi Farm Prison.

The prison said it suffered over US$2,600, in losses, after the break-in.

Felix Chingwaru, a salesman, discovered the break-in when he arrived for his shift.

According to sources at the prison, the thieves used an unknown object to force open the canteen’s back door.

They made off with a cash box, containing US$2,673.

“Everyone, including both officers and inmates, are being interrogated regarding this unlawful entry and theft,” said the source.

“The atmosphere among senior prison officials is tense, with many expressing their outrage over the incident.”

The case has been reported at Highlands Police Station, under case number RRB 6604817, and investigations are underway.- Herald
