LOS ANGELES – Singer Chris Brown has denied allegations that he fled the scene after his housekeeper was severely injured in a dog attack at his Los Angeles home, urging a court to dismiss several key claims from her lawsuit.

In new court filings, the Grammy Award-winning artist asked a judge to strike down Maria Avila’s claims of intentional infliction of emotional distress and punitive damages, arguing that her version of events has been exaggerated.

Avila filed the lawsuit following a December 12, 2020 incident in which she alleges she was attacked by one of Brown’s dogs while taking out trash at the property. According to her complaint, the large brown dog “viciously” bit her as she screamed for help.

Avila claims that Brown briefly came outside, stood over her while speaking on the phone, and then “left her bleeding to death” on the driveway. She says she later required emergency surgery and continues to suffer from nerve damage, disfigurement, and partial blindness as a result of the attack.

Brown Disputes the Allegations

In a sworn deposition, Brown disputed Avila’s account, insisting he neither witnessed the attack nor saw any blood before leaving the scene.

“I didn’t touch her. I bent down and I looked. I was making sure she was breathing, and then from there, I ran and put the dogs away and yelled and told the security guard to come over,” Brown testified.

The “Under the Influence” singer said he only left the scene after his manager informed him that paramedics were on their way.

Ongoing Civil Case

The court has not yet ruled on Brown’s motion to remove portions of the lawsuit. The case remains an ongoing civil dispute stemming from the 2020 incident.

Avila continues to seek damages for the physical and emotional injuries she claims to have suffered during the attack.

Brown, who has faced multiple legal controversies over the years, maintains that he acted responsibly during the incident and has denied any wrongdoing.
