LOS ANGELES – Rap legend Snoop Dogg was visibly moved to tears during a dramatic Battle Round on Season 28 of NBC’s hit talent show The Voice, after two of his team members delivered a performance that left both the audience and judges deeply emotional.
The veteran artist, now in his second season as a full-time coach, watched intently as contestants Yoshihanaa and Natalia Albertini performed a stirring rendition of Carole King’s timeless classic, “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman”, famously covered by Aretha Franklin.
The duet, which contestants selected and arranged themselves, quickly became one of the standout moments of the season. Their soulful harmonies and emotional intensity transformed the stage into what many viewers described as “a vocal masterclass.”
“Y’all made me shed a tear,” an emotional Snoop Dogg said following the performance. “Lizzo gave you so much information, and y’all used it. I was crying because I can only keep one of y’all, and my heart is broke.”
Fellow coaches Niall Horan, Reba McEntire, and Michael Bublé were equally touched by the display. Horan described the moment as “why we watch the show,” while McEntire praised Yoshihanaa’s impressive vocal range. Bublé, on the other hand, lauded Natalia’s tonal precision and emotional delivery.
After a tense pause, Snoop ultimately chose Yoshihanaa as the winner of the battle, citing her stage presence and artistic growth. However, moments later, as Natalia prepared to leave, he surprised everyone by hitting the save button, refusing to let her go.
“That performance was so strong, so heartfelt,” Snoop explained. “She was too good to be on somebody else’s team and too good to go home.”
Snoop Dogg joined The Voice as a full-time coach last season, where he guided Jeremy Beloate to the finale, finishing in fifth place. He had previously appeared on the show as a Key Advisor during Season 20.
Season 28 of The Voice continues to air Mondays and Tuesdays on NBC, promising more emotional performances and high-stakes eliminations.
