HARARE – Chalton Hwende, Chairperson of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Energy and Power Development, has announced plans to summon John Panonetsa Mangudya, Chief Executive Officer of Mutapa Investments Fund, to address issues related to ZESA reporting procedures and alleged conflicts between the fund and the Ministry of Energy and Power Development.

Hwende, the Kuwadzana East legislator, expressed concern over the Treasury’s failure to disburse appropriated funds to the Ministry, a situation he says has contributed to widespread power outages across the country.

“The committee is worried about the continued delays in funding, which are directly impacting electricity supply and affecting households and businesses nationwide,” Hwende said.

The parliamentary committee intends to seek clarifications from Mangudya on both operational and reporting matters to ensure accountability and improved service delivery in the energy sector.
