American reality television star and businesswoman Kim Kardashian was allegedly threatened at gunpoint by a police officer during a 2018 visit to Uganda with her then-husband Kanye West, according to claims contained in a newly published biography.
The allegation appears in Citizen Kim, a biography written by journalist Jonathan Van Meter and released by Viking on October 27, 2026, offering new accounts of Kardashian’s personal life, celebrity career and experiences travelling with the rapper.
According to entertainment news website AllHipHop.com, citing reporting by PEOPLE magazine, television producer Farnaz Farjam alleged that a police officer held a gun to Kardashian’s head during the couple’s visit to the East African country.
Farjam also claimed that West became concerned about being drugged and that police officers searched rooms during the trip. She said she subsequently arranged for members of her production crew to leave Uganda aboard a private jet.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged confrontation remain unclear, and the account has not been independently corroborated. There is no indication in the supplied reporting that Ugandan authorities have publicly responded to the allegation.
The claims revisit a high-profile visit that attracted international attention when West and Kardashian travelled to Uganda in October 2018.
During the trip, the couple met President Yoweri Museveni at State House in Entebbe on October 15, discussing tourism and investment opportunities, according to statements issued by the Ugandan presidency at the time.
West presented Museveni with a pair of white sneakers and reportedly pledged to establish a tourism school in the country.
The visit generated considerable publicity for Uganda, bringing together one of America’s most recognisable celebrity couples and a president who had been in power for more than three decades.
The newly disclosed allegation, however, presents a sharply different account of the couple’s experience behind the scenes.
AllHipHop.com reported that Farjam’s claims emerged through Van Meter’s biography, which draws on interviews with people connected to Kardashian and observations gathered over several years.
Van Meter, a former founding editor of Vibe magazine, told Forbes that he spent five years researching the book after an earlier profile of Kardashian prompted him to pursue a more extensive account of her life.
The author also told The Hollywood Reporter that Kardashian had been allowed to review the manuscript for factual inaccuracies but had not restricted his choice of interviewees or prohibited particular subjects.
West was not interviewed for the biography.
The Uganda allegation is particularly striking given Kardashian’s previous experience of violent crime.
In October 2016, she was robbed at gunpoint in Paris after attackers posing as police officers entered her accommodation, restrained her and stole jewellery valued at approximately US$6 million.
Kardashian later described the incident as deeply traumatic and said she believed her life was in danger.
A French court convicted eight defendants in connection with the robbery in May 2025, while two others were acquitted.
The experience prompted Kardashian to strengthen her personal security and become more cautious about disclosing her whereabouts publicly.
“I learned to be more private,” Kardashian said in remarks previously reported by the Associated Press.
The latest claims are likely to renew attention on the couple’s 2018 African visit, which was widely portrayed at the time as a celebrity encounter with Uganda’s political leadership.
However, the allegations remain the account of a participant as presented in a biography, rather than established findings from an official investigation.
Neither the identity of the officer allegedly involved nor the circumstances leading to the reported confrontation were established in the supplied account.
For now, the publication of Citizen Kim has brought a previously undisclosed allegation into public view, adding another controversial chapter to the history of Kardashian and West’s much-publicised visit to Uganda.
