NEW YORK, USA — Hip-Hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs is set to be released from federal custody on May 8, 2028, following his conviction and 50-month prison sentence on prostitution-related charges under the Mann Act, according to updated records from the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
The Bad Boy Records founder was convicted on October 3, 2025, for transporting individuals across state lines for the purpose of prostitution. Judge Arun Subramanian handed down the sentence, which also included a $500,000 fine. The charges stemmed from incidents involving Casandra Ventura-Fine, an unnamed woman identified as “Jane,” and several others described as sex workers.
The 55-year-old entertainment tycoon was found guilty on two federal counts after a high-profile trial that dominated national headlines — marking a dramatic fall for one of music’s most influential figures.
Diddy has since filed an appeal, and his legal team is developing a strategy to challenge the conviction. He will remain incarcerated while the appeal process continues.
Adding a political twist to the saga, Donald Trump confirmed during a White House briefing that Diddy had requested a presidential pardon.
“I have had a lot of people ask me for pardons. I call him Puff Daddy — he has asked me for a pardon,” Trump told reporters. However, the former president expressed hesitation, noting Diddy’s past criticisms of his administration. “When I ran for office, he was very hostile,” Trump said, referencing Diddy’s outspoken 2020 campaign against him.
In that election year, Diddy launched “Our Black Party” and endorsed Joe Biden, declaring on social media: “The NUMBER ONE priority is to get Trump out of office. HE HAS TO GO.” The post has since been deleted.
While some insiders claim Trump remains undecided on the pardon, a White House spokesperson dismissed speculation, saying: “There is zero truth to the TMZ report. The president — not anonymous sources — is the final decider on pardons and commutations.”
Once hailed as a trailblazer who redefined the intersection of Hip-Hop, fashion, and business, Diddy’s legacy now faces intense scrutiny as he navigates one of the most turbulent chapters of his career.
With his release date now confirmed and an appeal underway, the embattled music executive’s fight to restore his reputation — and freedom — is far from over.
