Drake Eyes Global Tour to Challenge Kendrick Lamar as Anticipation for ICEMAN Grows

0

Drake is reportedly preparing a major world tour tied to his forthcoming album ICEMAN, with industry insiders suggesting the move is partly motivated by a desire to outmatch rival Kendrick Lamar’s recent touring dominance.

The claims emerged from online commentator DJ Akademiks, who stated during a livestream that Drake is planning an extensive 2026 global tour designed to challenge Kendrick Lamar’s record-breaking “Grand National” tour, currently the highest-grossing Hip-Hop tour of all time.

Drake, who still holds the strongest Hip-Hop touring numbers in the United States, is said to be setting his sights on the global title.

“I think Drake wants to beat the world record going into next year,” Akademiks said in a clip circulating on social media. “He’s saying, ‘If I’m going to have an agent, my agent won’t represent my opponent.’”

The speculation comes as anticipation builds around ICEMAN, Drake’s expected ninth studio album. While no release date has been announced, sources close to the project have indicated that the rapper has been deeply focused in the studio, preparing what is being described as a major artistic and promotional rollout.

Akademiks also told viewers that Drake has been “off the road and cooking up,” adding that the rapper recently indicated to him that the creative process is intensifying as the album nears completion.

Fans have been urged to give the artist space to finish the project without distractions, with Akademiks arguing that Drake is aiming to deliver one of his most ambitious musical eras yet.

However, some observers caution that expectations around ICEMAN have become increasingly inflated, with commentators suggesting that the constant hype could set the stage for disappointment if the album does not meet the elevated anticipation.

Whether Drake’s next chapter results in a global takeover or a widely scrutinised misstep, the buzz surrounding ICEMAN continues to grow—alongside renewed interest in the long-running rivalry between two of Hip-Hop’s biggest names.
