iPhone 7 incoming: Apple invites media to 7 September launch event
Apple is holding a media event in San Francisco on 7 September, where it is widely expected to announce the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
The company sent out invitations to members of the press today, 29 August. The event will take place at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco and will start at 10am local time (6pm BST). As well as the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, Apple will use the press conference to show off the final version of iOS 10, and reveal when the free software update will be available to download.
Apple is also tipped to have a second-generation Watch up its sleeve, but it isn’t yet known if the new wearable will be revealed on 7 September or at its own event later in the year.
The iPhone 7 launch is expected to last for between 90 minutes and two hours, and will likely reveal the new smartphone in full, plus when pre-orders open and when the phone will finally go on sale. US pricing will be announced during the event, while UK prices will be sent out to journalists later that evening.
A huge number of leaks means we have a very good idea of what the iPhone 7 will be like. It will have the same 4.7in screen as the iPhone 6 and 6S, and a very similar design too. The main differences are expected to be an improved rear camera, improved performance, more storage and a pressure-sensitive Home button.
As for the iPhone 7 Plus, this will have the same 5.5in screen as the iPhone 6S Plus and the same design, but it will feature a new dual-lens rear camera for improved zooming and image quality. – IBTimes
