ZiCOPAs searching for models

Zimbabwe Championships of Performing Arts (ZICOPA) will be holding auditions for models this Saturday 2nd of October 2016 at B2C, Batanai Mall in Harare as they scout for national representatives at next year’s World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Los Angeles, USA where more than 60 countries are represented.

The search follows the successful debut participation of Zimbabwe at the world stage this year where Timothy Hogo came home with a gold and bronze medal after reaching the finals for the modeling category and Sylent Nqo emerging the Senior Grand Champion of the World in the instrumentalist category and scooping four other awards. Beatboxer Denzel Mashonganyika known as ProBeatz bagged nine Gold Medals, One Silver Medal, One Bronze Medal and a dance Scholarship at the Millennium Dance Academy.

ZiCOPA, a registered trust in Zimbabwe is an affiliate to the World Championships of Performing Arts with a mandate to select a talent to represent the Zimbabwe at the “Olympics of the performing arts – in Hollywood every July.

This weekend’s auditions are part of an ongoing search that began a month ago for potential artists and models to represent the country. Apart from the free and open audition the Saturday event will offer a workshop to models, agencies and designers. Selected models will compete for gold, silver and bronze medals as well as scholarships and contracts agencies in Los Angeles.

Explaining the process, Nyarayi Jessica Tandy the co-founder and national ZiCOPA director said, “The audition will cover the following; Runway (Casual) for juniors between the ages of 5 to 15 and seniors from age 16 from swimwear, formal, petite and plus sizes.”

This year ZiCOPA took four participants from the country to Hollywood and next year they are aiming for twenty five. Online, open auditions and scouting at different performing arts events happening across Zimbabwe will be conducted in the quest for talented junior and senior dancers, actors, instrumentalists, models and a variety of entertainers.”

The organisers are also inviting potential sponsors to aid the participation of the finalists to the grand event.
