Mutsvangwa Ouster Harbinger of Trouble for Mnangagwa?

The dismissal of War Veterans Minister Chris Mutsvangwa from Zanu PF has left many wondering if this marks the beginning of a crusade against presidential aspirant Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Some say given the raging civil war in the party, Mnangagwa could ultimately find himself being kicked out in the same brutal fashion as former Vice President Joyce Mujuru.

But one political analyst Mqondobanzi Magonya says not so fast; and the reason is soaked in blood – partly.

“I don’t think this spells the end of Mnangagwa considering that the trio that orchestrated the genocide of the Ndebele people is still intact,” Magonya opined.

“What might happen is that the very same thing that happened to Mnangagwa when he lost his constituency in 2000, he was made Speaker of Parliament.

“The same thing might happen again this time around. He might be reassigned from the vice presidency,” he added.

Mutsvangwa, an ally of Mnangagwa, is accused of insulting the First Family and undermining the authority of President Robert Mugabe.

His perceived faction is engaged in combat with the so-called Generation 40 or G40 over the party’s control in anticipation of Mr. Mugabe abdicating power. – VOA
