BINDURA – Government owes institutions of higher learning US$61 million in cadetship fees and US$1 million has been set aside for this is year’s programme.
The sum owed to institutions of higher learning was revealed at the belated 21st February Movement celebrations organised by Bindura University of Science Education (BUSE) students and other institutions in the province.
The Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development, Cde Oppah Muchinguri said the prevailing macro-economic environment has affected the release of the funds.
BUSE ZICOSU President, Eustina Macheka and ZICOSU National President, Tonderai chidawu said that students should emulate the exemplary works and character of President Robert Mugabe.
Most students across the country continue to face a number of challenges ranging from high tuition fees to unavailability of proper accommodation facilities.
Parents will from 2016 pay for construction of new primary and secondary schools, as well as rehabilitation of existing ones.
