Attempted murder outside council offices: UK cops release photo of Zimbabwe man they wish to trace

Mr Farai Kambarami

Police have asked for public help to find a man they want to speak to in connection with an attempted murder right outside the civic offices in Milton Keynes.

They have warned people not to approach 25-year-old Farai Kambarami (pictured) but to call police urgently if they spot him.

Their concern relates to an stabbing in the car park outside the council offices at CMK on Monday morning.

The victim was a 34-year-old woman, who suffered stab wounds to her throat and arm.

A member of the public came to her rescue before the ambulance arrived, and police have thanked the woman for her help.

The drama started around 8.10am when the victim was driving her black Vauxhall Insignia in Saxon Gate East.

A second car, a black Honda CR-V with registration BT57 OFE, collided with her vehicle and both drivers pulled into the civic office car park.

A man got out of the Honda and attacked the woman with what is thought to have been a knife, say police.
He then stole her keys and mobile phone and left the scene in his car.

The victim was taken to Milton Keynes hospital, where she remains in hospital in a stable condition.

Investigating officer Detective Inspector Jason Simpson said: “I would like to hear from anyone who has any information about Farai Kambarami’s whereabouts. He has links to London, Surrey, Portsmouth and Wolverhampton.”

He added: “We do not believe Farai Kambarami to be a risk to the wider public, but I would ask anyone who sees him not to approach him and instead to contact police as a matter of urgency.

“This incident happened in a very public place and there would have been people arriving at work or visiting central Milton Keynes around this time of morning. If you saw or heard anything, no matter how insignificant it may seem to you, please contact me as soon as possible.”

LPA Commander for Milton Keynes, Supt Gez Chiariello, said: “Members of the public may well be distressed to hear the news of this upsetting incident which happened in the centre of Milton Keynes. I would like to reassure anyone who has any concerns that this was an isolated incident and we believe the victim is known to the offender.

Mr Chiarello said officers are in the area making enquiries and he is urging anybody who has any concerns or any information about the incident to speak to them.

He added: “A member of the public assisted the victim after she was attacked and I would like to thank her for her actions. She is an example of the kindness and courage that exists in our community, which is important to remember in the aftermath of this incident.”

Anybody with information about the incident should call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Anybody spotting a man matching Kambarami’s description should call 999. – MKCitizen
