A Bulawayo man is reportedly living in fear of losing his privates after his wife threatened to cut off his member with a kitchen knife as punishment for infecting her with HIV.
The man from Hillside and whose name is being withheld for ethical reasons because of his HIV status, deliberately infected his wife whose name is also being withheld, after he allegedly refused to use protection claiming condoms cause premature ejaculation.
The fear-struck man who has since abandoned his matrimonial home narrated his nightmare at the Bulawayo Civil Court where his wife had dragged him seeking a protection order.
“My husband deliberately infected me with HIV. Before he infected me he was in the habit of verbally and physically abusing me for denying him unprotected sex despite the fact that he was HIV positive and I was negative.
“He refuses to use condoms saying I am his wife and that condoms cause him not to last long during sex. While forcing me to have unprotected sex he would be insulting me saying that I should not deny him when he was having it (unprotected sex) with his girlfriends. And because of his abusive behaviour I need a protection order,” she said.
In response, the man did not however, object to his wife’s submissions.
He said he had since moved out of the house after she threatened to slice off his manhood.
“We are no longer living together because she threatened to stab me with a kitchen knife. She is always threatening me saying she would make sure that I lose the body part that infected her with HIV in a knife attack. I am now living in fear because of her threats,” he said.
In his ruling presiding magistrate Sheunesu Matova ordered the respondent not to physically and sexually abuse his wife or threaten her in any way. – B-Metro
